Precision manufacturing solutions for grinding, turning, and specialized processes – live at IMTS 2026

UG 400: Universal grinding for precision internal and external machining

EMAG UG 400 universal cylindrical grinding machine for external, internal, and face grinding in one setup.
The UG 400 performs internal and external grinding with a swiveling B-axis for complex contours in a single setup.

EMAG’s UG Series combines internal, external, and out-of-round grinding in one compact machine, eliminating time-consuming setup changes between operations. The direct-drive motor spindle delivers 7.5 kW peak power at speeds up to 4,500 rpm, working with both corundum and CBN grinding wheels. The continuously swiveling B-axis positions with ±2 angular second accuracy, enabling complex grinding strategies for demanding geometries. With a grinding length of 400 mm and center height of 175/225 mm, the machine achieves 0.5 µm roundness on test workpieces. Typical applications include precision tools, hydraulic components, and gear parts in tool manufacturing, precision mechanics, and small to medium production runs. The rigid machine base design minimizes vibration transfer for consistent surface quality across production lots. More Information

EMAG MSC 5 DUO twin-spindle lathe. CNC lathe for automated batch production.
The MSC 5 DUO machines chucked components on two spindles simultaneously with split-bed design and integrated automation for minimal cycle times.

MSC 5 DUO: Twin-spindle productivity for high-volume batch production of chucked components

Simultaneous machining on two spindles reduces cycle times while the split-bed design mechanically isolates work areas to limit vibration transfer. The integrated 3-axis gantry loading system achieves chip-to-chip times under 6 seconds, and the compact stacking system enables unmanned operation without additional floor space. Each spindle reaches 4,500 rpm with thermally stabilized A2-5 configuration, while dual 8-station BMT turrets provide process flexibility. The machine handles complete machining (OP 10/OP 20) in a single setup with an integrated parts turner. Typical workpieces include planetary gears, bevel gears, pinions, sleeves, and flanges for automotive, hydraulics, pneumatics, and medical technology applications. Maximum turning diameter: 120/240 mm, maximum turning length: 85/145 mm. The service-friendly design with front-accessible components minimizes maintenance downtime.

EMAG ECM Technology Center featuring electrochemical machining solutions for aerospace, medical, and defense applications
ECM technology demonstrates electrochemical machining for drilling, deburring, and creating complex geometries without mechanical stress or tool wear.

ECM Technology Center: Electrochemical machining for stress-free material removal

Electrochemical Machining removes material through controlled electrochemical dissolution without mechanical force or thermal stress, enabling precise machining of hardened materials and complex internal geometries. The ECM Technology Center presents applications in drilling, deburring, rifling, and inner forming for aerospace turbine blades, medical implants, and defense components. The process machines hard-to-reach areas without tool wear, maintains consistent dimensional accuracy across production runs, and eliminates heat-affected zones or work hardening. Typical applications include cooling hole drilling in turbine components, precise deburring of intersecting bores, gun barrel rifling, and complex internal features in difficult-to-machine materials. ECM technology proves particularly effective where conventional methods reach their limits, reducing secondary operations and achieving geometries impossible with traditional machining while maintaining full process documentation and traceability.

Defense Technology Center: Precision manufacturing for munitions and ordnance production

Defense manufacturing requires exceptional dimensional accuracy, complete process documentation, and consistent quality across production lots.
As a U.S.-based operation, EMAG LLC is positioned to support defense and government programs: EMAG LLC holds a CAGE code, is ITAR-compliant, and working toward Level 1 & 2 CMMC compliance—giving prime contractors and their supply chains a partner equipped to handle controlled technical data and meet federal acquisition requirements.

The Defense Technology Center presents specialized solutions for artillery shells, tank ammunition, mortar rounds, and gun and tank barrel rifling where precision directly impacts mission effectiveness. The center demonstrates ECM rifling technology that creates precise barrel grooves without inducing mechanical stress, plus machining processes for ordnance components meeting stringent military specifications. These solutions address unique defense contractor requirements: full material traceability, lot-to-lot consistency, and production scalability while maintaining tight tolerances. Applications include 155mm artillery shell production, 120mm tank ammunition, mortar round manufacturing, and gun barrel finishing.

Our specialists discuss how these technologies ensure compliance with defense standards, provide complete quality documentation, and optimize production efficiency for both new-manufacture programs and sustainment operation More Information

Humanoid Robots Technology Center: Manufacturing solutions for gear components of humanoid robots

Humanoid robot beside precision-engineered mechanical parts used in the model.
Humanoid robots demonstrate flexible automation for machine tending and material handling with adaptive capabilities in human-designed work environments.

The joint actuators that give humanoid robots their strength and precision are only as capable as the gear components inside them. At IMTS 2026, you’ll see how EMAG produces the components that define actuator performance: circular splines with high-precision internal teeth, thin-walled flex splines, wave generators with elliptical contours, planetary gears for high-torque gearboxes and planetary roller screw spindles for linear drives.

As humanoid robots move from pilot builds towards series production, the part count of these components climb quickly. Multiplying these across production runs creates volume requirements that few manufacturers are currently equipped to meet without compromising accuracy. This is where EMAG supports you. Our machines combine the tight tolerances these components demand with the automation, cycle-time efficiency and process reliability that high-volume manufacturing requires. Integrated loading systems, twin-spindle concepts and complete machining in a single setup keep cost-per-part low as your output grows. Whether you’re qualifying a first production line or expanding existing capacity, you’ll find a partner experienced in carrying precision workpieces from initial samples through reliable, repeatable series production.
