Networking @ EMO: A Series of Interviews with EMAG Group Experts

“Smart technologies drive tomorrow’s production!” That is the motto for EMO 2019 in Hannover, Germany. But, we are convinced that not only are smart technologies important, but smart people are also important! And it is essential that these people come together to talk to one another.

That is why we will not only focus on networked technologies at the EMAG Group’s booth, but also on networking with our visitors.

To allow you to plan ahead and figure out who you need to speak with at EMO, we will be releasing a series of interviews in the coming weeks with our industry experts that will be attending EMO.

Mr. Svatek, could you briefly introduce yourself and describe your duties at EMAG?

I’m responsible for the worldwide sales and marketing of the Modular Solutions business area. For this, I centrally manage all sales and marketing activities from the Americas to Asia and work with a team as the interface between our production and our sales and service locations.

Tell us more about EMAG’s Modular Solutions.

The Modular Solution machine series currently features seven machines, starting with our core competency “lathe turning” all the way to our vertical hobbing machines. With this product portfolio established approximately 8 years ago, we aim to provide our customers with proven EMAG technology in a modular system. In addition to the machines, the Modular Solutions product range also includes our own automation system, the TrackMotion. Modular peripherals, e.g. for measuring or cleaning, round off the range. This allows us to deliver complex line concepts, e.g. for differentials, planetary gears or bevel gears, from our modular system consisting of machine, automation system and peripherals.

By now, this business area has developed into the EMAG Group’s largest both in terms of turnover and of incoming orders.

Are you showing anything new at the EMO?

Yes, we will be celebrating the world premiere of our VL 5 DUO, the latest dual-spindle pick-up turning center, building on the success of the smaller VL 3 DUO, machining parts with a maximum diameter of up to 250 mm (10 in). We introduced the VL 3 DUO at the AMB 2016 and achieved the most successful market introduction in EMAG history immediately thereafter.

Specifically, who do you want to reach with your new solution?

We are trying to reach our existing customers, primarily in the automotive industry. But with the Modular Solutions product portfolio, we are also able to offer effective solutions for new companies—outside the automotive industry—such as those from the general machinery, agricultural or aerospace industries. Our modular system allows us to respond to the most diverse customer requests with a highly customized approach, and now we can also provide efficient solutions for small to medium batch sizes.

Briefly tell us why we should visit the EMAG Group’s booth at the EMO?

Let us show you the EMAG Group’s capacity to innovate! With the premiere of the pick-up machine in 1992, we turned lathe turning on its head. Over the year’s this concept has established itself within the market. Today, we are able to offer you machines, automation systems, peripherals, as well as our expertise in turn-key projects, and we stand by our customers as a reliable partner to realize the most complex tasks. Our engineers have created innovative solutions for a number of current trends including industry 4.0 and e-mobility, and have brought them to market maturity. Leading trade shows, such as the EMO in Hannover, Germany, are the ideal place to see them for yourself!
