VL 3 DUO - Modular Multi-Spindle Machine

In a constantly changing world, industry is facing the challenge of making manufacturing more efficient and sustainable. EMAG can deliver energy-efficient solutions to this in the form of multi-spindle machines which minimize energy consumption and reduce pollution. The interaction between machines and automation systems designed to achieve maximum efficiency is a key element of these efforts. The VL 3 DUO machine combined with the TrackMotion automation system, which we will be unveiling at the EMO in Hanover, is an outstanding example of this.v

Power skiving: EMAG machine VSC 400 PS provides speed

VSC 400 PS: Power skiving and turning simplify gear production

Power skiving is becoming increasingly important in the manufacture of gear profiles. The reason for this is the fact that this process is superior to shaping in terms of speed and to hobbing and broaching in terms of flexibility. However, for a long time the process was considered difficult. The new VSC 400 PS changes this fundamentally. The machine simplifies power skiving considerably, as the operator only has to enter a minimum of data. Specialized gear cutting knowledge is no longer required for operation. In addition, the VSC 400 PS can be equipped with up to four power skiving tools and six turning tools, enabling the user to produce even complex components safely and efficiently in a single operation.

  • Workpiece dia., max.: 340 mm | 13.5 in
  • Workpiece height, max.: 160 mm | 6.5 in
  • Module, max.: 4 mm | 0 in

VLC 350 GT: The speedster for grinding out-of-round pump components

The VLC 350 GT from EMAG offers high flexibility, productivity, and quality when grinding pump components.

These play an important role in the manufacture of pumps, as they contribute to the precision and efficiency of hydraulic systems. A specific application example is the radial piston pump, a technology widely used in the delivery of lubricants in machine tools and automatic transmissions. In the VLC 350 GT, the main components of the radial piston pump, such as the cam ring, are machined with high precision. The machining direction corresponds to the subsequent direction of rotation inside the pump, which minimizes noise and increases the pump's efficiency. In addition, the machine enables machining of a wide range of workpieces of different sizes. Another special feature is the broad technology spectrum. For example, external cylindrical grinding, out-of-round grinding and face-grinding are possible on the VLC 350 GT.

  • Workpiece dia., max.: 350 mm | 14 in
  • Workpiece length, max.: 200 mm | 8 in
  • Chuck dia., max.: 400 mm | 15.5 in

W 11 CNC - perfect for single parts, prototypes and small batches

The W 11 CNC from EMAG Weiss is a universal grinding machine for precision and efficient machining of single parts, prototypes and small series.

The many options and equipment variants available make the W 11 CNC the perfect workshop machine. The W 11 CNC is available in sizes 650, 1000, and 1500 and workpieces with diameters up to 400 mm and weights up to 250 kg can be machined between centers. Optional center elevations of up to 320 mm are possible. The continuously swiveling B-axis is available in different variants for external and internal grinding and can be swiveled precisely into the working position by the integrated, high-resolution measuring system. This allows machining of external and internal tapers in any angular position and in "gauge quality" without any problems. The work headstock is equipped with a spindle mount of MK 4 and a centering diameter, optionally MK 5 or MK 6 is also possible.

  • Grinding length, max.: 650 / 1,500 mm | 25.5 / 59 in
  • Center height: 200 mm | 8 in
  • Grinding Ø external: 1 / 390 mm | 0 / 15.5 in

ELC 6 - Perfecting the welding process on the assembled rotor shaft

Sales of electric cars are on the rise - and at an enormous pace worldwide.

The International Energy Agency (IEA), for example, estimates that 14 million e-vehicles will be sold this year, representing a 35 percent increase in sales compared with the previous year. This means that they already account for almost one-fifth of the total car market. As a result, production planners are focusing on the manufacture of key components of the e-motor, such as the rotor shaft. They are looking for innovative solutions "from a single source", with which the component can be machined particularly efficiently and reliably in ever larger quantities. With the ELC 6, EMAG LaserTec is currently setting an example in the market: the integrated technology of this laser welding machine combines joining, cleaning and welding processes on a single rotor shaft, while its rotary table system ensures optimum cycle times.

HLC 150 H: High-precision gear cutting of the e-car rotor shaft in a fast cycle

It is a demanding task to gear cut the teeth of a rotor shaft for electric cars: Rotor shafts come in a wide variety of designs. Due to the high motor speeds at which they are operated, the demands on the gear quality are very high.

The highest surface qualities are required so that no disturbing running noises occur in the very quiet motor. In addition, the number of units in e-mobility is currently increasing massively, which is an additional challenge for the mechanical engineering involved. What is needed, therefore, are process-reliable solutions for cost-effective rotor shaft production. EMAG Koepfer is demonstrating how this can work at the EMO in Hanover: the gear hobbing machine HLC 150 H ensures the highest productivity level in this gearing area.
