Induction hardening shifter shafts on a MIND 750 hardening machine

An adapter plate is used to allow the simultaneous induction hardening and loading/unloading. The MIND 750 hardening machine has been equipped to ensure maximum flexibility. This means that the workpieces are loaded using a zero-point clamping system which allows a very wide range of shaft parts to undergo induction hardening on the same machine.

The induction hardening of the shaft is completed using progressive and stationary hardening methods depending on the requirement and desired hardening profile. One special feature for induction hardening a shifter shaft is the asymmetrical shaft design. When planning the hardening process, not only must attention be given to compensating for the uneven weight distribution, but the resultant uneven heat distribution in the workpiece also plays a major role. Thanks to the perfectly controllable energy application by the eldec generators and the individually designed inductors, a perfect hardening profile is possible in this case, too, with induction hardening.
