Complete Machining of Crankshafts in a Single Clamping Operation
The PMD 2 dual-head crankshaft grinding machine was designed for the manufacturing of crankshafts with a maximum length of 700 mm (28 in) and a workpiece weight of 50 kg (110 lbs). This easy to operate grinding machine combines high-tech grinding technology with precision, high power capacity and reliability.
Flexible Equipment
The special challenge in the complete grinding of a crankshaft in a single clamping operation is the design of the workpiece clamping system. To overcome this challenge, the PMD 2 provides a variety of equipment options to achieve optimal machining results.
For the complete machining of a crankshaft in a single clamping operation, the machine can be equipped, for example, with two headstocks. This allows for alternating clamping of the crankshaft on the flange and journal sides. Chucks with retractable jaws and a face driver are also used.
The complete machining in a single clamping operation can only be achieved if two workpiece headstocks are set up in the PMD 2. This is where the PMD 2 really demonstrates its flexible machining area design.
