The new year of exhibitions and trade fairs kicks off in Germany – with INTEC, the international trade fair for machine tools and its manufacturing and automation technologies. It takes place from the 24th to the 27th of February in Leipzig. In Hall 2, Stand C, EMAG will present their modular machine VT 2-4, the manufacturing solution for shafts of up to 400 mm length and 100 mm diameter.
EMAG at INTEC 2015

With its VT 2-4 vertical, 4-axis shaft-turning machine the EMAG Group offers a manufacturing system that – thanks to its integrated automation – is particularly suited to the manufacture of large component batches. The machine, which loads itself, using workpiece gripper technology, guarantees not only shortest chip-to-chip times, but – as the workpiece is machined from two sides simultaneously – considerable time savings, which lead to a reduction in component costs. Machining of the workpieces is carried out by two turrets with 12 stations each, all of which can be equipped with turning or driven tooling.
Like all modular machines from EMAG, the VT 2-4 is a true miracle of compact design. The vertical alignment makes for a slender construction, which – together with the already integrated automation of the component transport – provides ideal conditions for the machine’s integration into production lines. Linking the machines is comparatively easy, using workpiece transfer and turnover units positioned between them. It avoids having to invest in more complex automation. The compact construction, integrated automation and 4-axis machining capability are all guarantors for the highly productive manufacture of shaft-type components.
