Vertical and Horizontal Gear Hobbing Machines

Gears are manufactured using a technology called hobbing, which is why gear-cutting machines are referred to as hobbing machines. EMAG has two types of gear hobbing machines in its product range: horizontal hobbing machines that only perform hobbing operations, i.e. produce all types of pinions, gears (gearwheels) and worm gears.

Horizontal Hobbing MachinesThere are also vertical hobbing machines that are used for combined machining (see combined turning/hobbing technology) to produce gears for chucked components. The vertical design allows for a variety of automation options that are ideal for mass production when combined with the machine’s small footprint. Hobbing machines from EMAG Richardon are perfect for gear hobbing and machining of large components up to module 12.
