The digital and electric transformation is coming to the automotive industry\u2014and it\u2019s coming fast. How should manufacturing companies prepare for this? And which production solutions are most geared towards the future? Renowned experts will provide answers to these questions, and more, at the 2019 EMAG Technology Forum to be held on May 15 and 16 in Salach, Germany. According to estimates by the German National Platform for Electric Mobility (NPE), about 100 different models of electric vehicles will be available by 2020\u2014and that’s only German manufacturers! What\u2019s more: In the NPE\u2019s optimistic scenario, by 2025 Germans could be buying 3.1 millions of these vehicles. What do these figures mean to automotive manufacturing companies and which (networked) manufacturing solutions will they need in the future? \u201cThis is a concern for many of our customers and partners,\u201d says Friedemann Lell, Managing Director of EMAG Salach GmbH. \u201cThat\u2019s why we\u2019ve decided that everything at this year\u2019s EMAG Technology Forum on May 15 and 16 will revolve around the megatrends of \u201cdigitalization\u201d and \u201ce-mobility\u201d. We will cover a huge range of subjects and place particular emphasis on practical application and concrete solutions. This is where science and practice converge.\u201d<\/p>\n

High-Level Experts<\/h3>\n

The event dares to take a comprehensive look into the future\u2014and relies on creative and innovative formats to achieve this. Each day starts off with a presentation by a renowned keynote speaker. On May 15 Prof. Matthias Klingner<\/a>, Head of the Fraunhofer Institute for Transportation and Infrastructure Systems,<\/span><\/span> will talk about \u201cLow-Emission Zones and Diesel Bans\u2014Opportunities for an E-mobile Future?\u201d On the second day, Prof. Stefan Bratzel<\/a>, Director of the Center of Automotive Management,<\/span><\/span> will broach the issue of \u201cTomorrow\u2019s Mobility\u2014Connected Cars.\u201d Following these, there will be parallel sessions with a variety of expert presentations. Participants can choose between events in the areas of \u201cDigitalization,\u201d \u201cInnovative Manufacturing Technologies\u201d and \u201cManufacturing Solutions.\u201d The topics will, for example, address the business potential of electric motor parts, novel processes such as additive manufacturing and complete machining based on multi-technology solutions. Themed Area and Live Demonstrations<\/h3>\n

Information regarding the corresponding machine manufacturing solutions and practical examples of applications can also be found in the \u201cthemed area\u201d\u2014this is the name EMAG has given to a large exhibition area that will be set up in the newly-built factory hall in Salach. Everything at the various booths will revolve around e-mobility, industry 4.0, virtual reality, manufacturing systems, new processes, electric motor and hybrid engine manufacturing, as well as, specific component solutions. Moreover, participants will be able to experience many EMAG machines live and running\u2014from pick-up turning centers to multi-technology machines, all the way to electro-chemical machining.<\/p>\n

Testing the New Generation of Electric Cars<\/h3>\n

\u201cWe try to address the very many facets of the major transformation in car production,\u201d explains Friedemann Lell. \u201cThat\u2019s why, on the one hand, we focus on the question of what potential novel electric motor components offer and how the supplier industry is changing along with it. On the other, we will show how you can manufacture precisely these workpieces efficiently\u2014even if it involves small to medium batch sizes.
