The VLC 250 Turning Machine is a cross-operated, vertical manufacturing system, with its universal application being one of its main assets. The application dictates the number and position of turrets and the kind of automation needed. The machine concept also accommodates different machining technologies, such as turning, drilling, grinding, milling and the use of multi-technology units with tool changer.

The VLC 250 P has been developed with the reduction of workpiece changeover times in mind. The VLC 250 P Vertical Turning Machine features two spindles mounted on a single slide and traveling cycle time-concurrently. One spindle holds the workpiece during the machining process, the other unloads the previously finished component and picks up another raw-part. This means that one spindle is always in the machining area, holding the workpiece being machined. The arrangement ensures that workpiece changeover times are exceptionally short.

VLC 250 WF – turning & gear hobbing & deburring. The VLC 250 WF is designed for the machining of gear-type workpieces of up to 230 mm dia. and module 4. The VLC 250 WF offers the user flexibility, as it can be used as a single-spindle turning machine, a hobbing machine, or a combination of both. Its main range of application is the precision machining of medium-size and large batches of gear profiles.

The VLC 250 DS Vertical Turning Machine combines the advantages of vertical hard turning with those of grinding – on a single machine and in a single setup. In use is always the process best suited to the relevant workpiece and its quality requirements, therefore always offering the greatest economic advantage. Another advantage for the customer lies in the flexibility to be able to choose the best technology for every job: hard turning, scroll-free turning or grinding – and all on one and the same machine.

Advantages
- Vertical hard turning and finish-grinding in one setup on one machine
- Those sections of the workpiece which can be turned with process integrity are hard finish-turned and only ground (after hard pre-turning) where quality and process integrity demand
- Improved component quality and higher output rates, as the workpiece is machined in a single setup
- The grinding process only removes a small amount of material, which means that there is little wear to the grinding wheel and it does not have to be dressed very often. This offers cycle time advantages
