The first sod has been turned: EMAG expands its headquarters in Salach

Turnkey production systems at the highest level – a fitting way to sum up EMAG’s know-how. Among other things, our company develops complete production solutions for the automotive industry. For the construction and pre-assembly of these solutions, EMAG needs more production space in Salach. The machine manufacturer has also enjoyed many years of extraordinary economic success. These two factors necessitate the current expansion of EMAG’s headquarters in Salach. This will also prepare our facilities for the requirements of the future.

Driving growth
Markus Heßbrüggen, Managing Director of EMAG GmbH & Co. KG, explains the background: “We are clearly on course for extended growth. Over the last few years we have been able to land a large number of major projects. Time and again, this has exhausted our spatial capacity. Recently we have even rented additional space in the Göppingen area.” – Now it’s time for the next step: A 10,000 square meter building will be completed by the end of 2018 next to our main building in Austraße in Salach. It will include a 6,000 square meter production hall and a 4,000 square meter space with offices, meeting rooms, and social areas. “This investment is a clear commitment to the location. From here, we will press ahead at full speed with our plans for more positive development,” emphasizes Heßbrüggen.

Planning for a secure future
This planning is characterized by high speed – by July the “building density” should be available, and completion of the hall is earmarked for the end of September. In November employees can begin occupying the first offices. Three important factors define the current planning:

1. Flexibility: Machine manufacture and its customer industries are going through a transformation – For example, the components in the automotive industry are changing very quickly, as are the required production solutions. EMAG will therefore construct a production plant at Salach that is highly flexible. This will make it sustainable for the future, as the equipment and structure can be adapted to new developments.

2. Sustainability: Many factors play a role here. For example, high-quality materials are used exclusively. Even after decades they do not need to be replaced. The exhaust heat of the machines is also used to heat the building.

3. Workplace quality: EMAG needs highly qualified employees who can use their know-how to drive technological progress. In many ways the building lives up to this standard. “When it comes to its construction, we are currently looking at the how an assembly workplace should be designed for the future, or how modern logistics might look. The employees will benefit from this,” explains Markus Heßbrüggen.

Politicians emphasize the importance
The importance of the construction work for the economy of Göppingen was also emphasized by political representatives during the groundbreaking ceremony. Edgar Wolff, District Administrator of Göppingen, stated that the company’s decision will advance regional economic development. The Mayor of Salach, Julian Stipp, seconded this assessment with the words: “Nowadays, EMAG is an economic lighthouse for the region.”

Season’s Greetings from EMAG!

You often hear the phrase “the world moves fast” – and for us this quote definitely applies! Technology is certainly developing at an overwhelming speed: Self-driving cars and completely networked “intelligent” factories are the results of this unbelievable pace of innovation.

Speed is also a key component in our industry – After all, mechanical engineering can be seen as both the partner and facilitator of these changes, with machines that produce parts in seconds, day after day, around the clock. Luckily, we’re not machines and can take a well-deserved break from all of the buzz.

We wish everyone a very relaxed holiday season and a happy new year! Now is the time to take a deep breath and to enjoy time with your families and friends over the next few days – and remember: take it slow.

EMAG Celebrates 150 Year Anniversary!

This September, EMAG is excited to celebrate our 150 year anniversary. In 1867, EMAG was founded in Bautzen, Saxony. Initially, EMAG was established as an iron foundry and engineering works center.

Over the years, EMAG continued to grow and by 1952 was re-established in Eislingen, Baden- Württemberg. At this point, business has evolved and EMAG focused on the manufacturing of lathes and special purpose equipment.

Then, in 1969, the headquarters of EMAG moved to Salach where it currently resides. As the company continued to grow, EMAG began branching out globally. By 1980, the USA based subsidiary of EMAG in Farmington Hills, Michigan was launched.

Over the years, EMAG has continued to grow, expand and adapt based on the needs of the markets and customers we serve. We are honored to be celebrating our 150 year anniversary and are grateful to the customers and employees who helped us get here.

We look forward to continuing to grow and providing you with customized solutions for all of your manufacturing needs. For more information on our new innovations and technologies, visit www.emag.com.

EMAG at EASTEC 2017!

At EMAG, we know that the manufacturing market on the East Coast is an important one and with that in mind, we decided to plunge into EASTEC 2017 – and we’re so happy we did! The EMAG team exhibited at EASTEC last week and showcased our manufacturing systems for precision metal components. We had the opportunity not only to display some of our machinery, but also to network with some amazing individuals on the East Coast.
We’d like to extend a big heartfelt thank you to those who had the opportunity to stop by and visit our booth. Our team was excited to meet with everyone and discuss the production benefits that EMAG offers. Thank you for making this show a success for us! For those that were unable to attend EASTEC, our sales team would still love to walk you through what you missed at the show – just give us a call to set up an appointment.
Check out our photos to see some highlights of what happened at the show!
